Total Fan Girl: Review of Scarlett and Jo Fan Print Dress

Reading this makes all the hard work and s*** that I get from some quarters in adorning beautiful women like Haley all worthwhile.

Not that there are any fan print dresses  left in stock…….. but I liked this post so much I thought we’d re-post it here.

I am having a growing love affair with Scarlett and Jo. The brand makes plus size clothes that are unlike any on the market. Their pieces always strike me as romantic with a side of sophistication. I love that their dresses are suitable for a range of occasions, and with a growing collection of separates to tempt you too I think they are going from strength to strength.

Scarlett and Jo Red Fan Print Dress - Evans

My most recent Scarlett and Jo purchase is this fan print dress. We all know I’m a sucker for red dresses (I’d rather not admit to how many I currently have in my possession…) and while I am supposed to have a moratorium on all red dress purchases I just could not resist this baby.

I ordered this in my usual size 22 and it fits perfectly. I tend to love the way Scarlett and Jo items fit generally - they have clearly been designed with plus size bodies in mind. The shape this dress gives me is just lovely, giving me an hour glass figure. The band under the bust and tie to the back helps define the waist, defining me at my narrowest point which is very flattering.

The skirt is quite full, and hits me just on the knee (I’m 5'8), and the medium weight jersey is cool to wear (perfect for a transitional season) while heavy enough to not cling to any areas I’m not too keen on.

This is another forties silhouette from Scarlett and Jo (similar to this dress I reviewed here). Cut beautifully for a full figure, it also has all the beautiful detailing I have come to expect from a Scarlett and Jo. The oriental fan print is unusual and exotic. The three quarter sleeves are great if, like me, you are not keen on your arms, and they have a lovely little button detail. The bodice has a sort of cross over feature that ties at the top, leaving a sweet little peep hole which makes this flirty but still work appropriate.

One thing I have realised from looking at the pictures for this post is that I definitely need to wear a t shirt bra with this dress to avoid any obvious bra lines underneath it (oops!)

This is just another great dress from Scarlett and Jo. Have you got anything from them in your wardrobe? Let me know what you think…
